Privacy Policy — Better Scanner

Last updated: July 25, 2026

Better Scanner is built to keep your documents on your device, full stop. This page explains what that means in practice.

Data we collect

None. Better Scanner does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. There are no servers, no tracking, no ads, and no user accounts. The app doesn't even request the internet permission — sending data anywhere is technically impossible.

On-device storage

Your scans, the PDFs generated from them, and the full text extracted by on-device text recognition are stored locally only — either in the app's own library or in a folder you choose via Android's file picker. Full-text search runs entirely on your device.

Backup/export

You can optionally create a backup of your library as a ZIP file. It's only created when you start it yourself, and it's saved wherever you choose (e.g. Google Drive, local storage, or an SD card). We have no access to it.

Permissions

Third parties

Better Scanner uses Google ML Kit's document scanning and text recognition components, which are already present on your device as part of Google Play Services. Processing happens on-device; no images or text are sent to Google or any other third party.

Children

Better Scanner does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.

Changes

We may update this policy; changes will be posted on this page.
